Am 27. April ist es soweit, WordPress 2.8 soll offiziell veröffentlicht werden. Bis dahin ist es noch ein steiniger Weg – ca. 500 Tickets warten noch darauf, abgearbeitet zu werden. Zum Glück gibt es hilfsbereite User, denn genau an diese Zielgruppe richtet sich der Aufruf im offiziellen Blog.

Um 18 Uhr unserer Zeit beginnt der "Super-Awesome WordPress 24-Hour Has-Patch Marathon". Auf zwei Wegen kann man die Entwickler dabei unterstützen.

Write a patch. There are dozens of tickets for discrete little pieces of correction (change … to actual ellipses in admin interface, change the ‘go back’ link to a ‘view page’ link, etc.), dozens that are browser-specific bugs, dozens that might be more challenging. Pick the one you want to work on, add a comment to the thread so other marathon contributors know someone is working on it, and get the patch submitted before the marathon ends.Jane Wells, 2009

WordPress-Insider dürften sich hier bestimmt bestens aufgehoben fühlen. Wer sich nicht sicher genug fühlt einen Patch anzugehen, dürfte sich für die zweite Methode interessieren.

Test a patch. Patches can’t be committed until they’ve been thoroughly tested. If you’re already running the nightly build start testing out these patches in as many operating system/browser combinations as you have. Only have one? 177 Tickets sind ungetestet und tragen den Status has-patch. Das ist die Chance für die Community, an WordPress aktiv mitgearbeitet zu haben. Drücken wir die Daumen, dass der Termin für die Version 2.8 mit diesem Marathon eingehalten werden kann.

Update

Etwas mehr als die Hälfte des Marathons ist verstrichen, Zeit für eine Zwischenbilanz. Aktuell sind 189 Tickets mit dem Status has-patch versehen; es hat sich also einiges getan. Dennoch soll es nicht dabei bleiben:

Die Ergebnisse dieser Aktion werden am Montag veröffentlicht. Man darf gespannt sein, wie viele Probleme letzten Endes gelöst wurden. Abschließend gibt es nur noch eine Kleinigkeit zu berichten:
