Design Principles for the BlackBerry 10 Platform

In this keynote BlackBerry will be talking about the design intent behind the Blackberry 10 Experience and how defined design principals get translated with modern technologies into features. You will also get an overview about the Blackberry 10 underlining software architecture with QNX as the real time Operating System and Cascades as the Qt based UI Framework.

Discover the Freedom of developing great Cascades/C++/Qt Native Apps on BlackBerry 10

This session is intended to introduce you the BlackBerry Native SDK and it's capabilities by showing two different ways of developing a native app. The first way is showing the pure C/C++ approach and is especially convenient for Games and Libs developers. The second way is the more comfortable using the Qt based BlackBerry Cascades UI framework. BlackBerry developer will demo the tools and will be coding live on some sample apps. We will distribute 10 PlayBooks at the end of the session through a draw!

Dos and Don'ts of Android UI 2

As in coding UI design has common solutions to common problems, design patterns. Finding right patterns can save a lot of time as well as make the app more appealing to the users. Common patterns bring consistency to the platform and make apps easier to learn. Then there are common mistakes, anti-patterns. Apps often seem to fall into similar traps trying to solve a problems. We can learn from mistakes of other to avoid them ourselves. Android UI patterns and anti-patterns are dos and do nots of Android app UI design.

Cross-Plattform Development - an Overview 1

Developing mobile applications for multiple platforms is a challenging task. In this session, I will give a brief overview of the main approaches for developing cross-platform mobile applications. We'll start with native apps, and work our way through hybrid applications and interpreted apps to HTML5 based solutions. I will demonstrate each of the approaches by way of a live example.

CouchDB mobile - From couch to 5k in 1 hour

Synchronized access to data is an essential feature for many apps. CouchDB Mobile is a version of CouchDB that makes NoSQL approaches usable for mobile apps on Android and iOS. In this session, I will explain what CouchDB is, how it uses MapReduce and how CouchDB mobile can be used to build a runner's app similar to RunKeeper Live. Be prepared for a fun and entertaining session!
