Google Ventures was initiated in 2009 to support promising new projects in the technology sector. Since then they have invested in over 255 companies including the likes of Uber, Flatiron and Docusign.
Over the last few years Google Ventures has focused on financing and guiding companies in the areas of bio-tech, software, consumer internet and health care.
Google wants to change the world
Google’s initiative aims to help “entrepreneurs change the world” and does this through providing seed, venture and growth stage funding for companies.
The service also offers startups access to Google’s engineers, scientists and workshops.
$100 Million for European startups
On July 8th, Google Ventures announced that they will be investing over $100 Million in European startups.
In the press release, Google singled out three major European capitals, London, Paris and of course Berlin as major hotspots for startups such as Soundcloud and Spotify.
Google praised the level of entrepreneurism in Europe and stated that they want support the exciting startup scene which looks to be exceptionally promising in years to come.
