As WebMagazin reported a few weeks ago, Fab.com is changing its name to Hem and the new site is now live.

It is still unclear when exactly Fab.com, One Nordic, MassivKonzept and Hem will unite but a spokesperson from the brand confirmed to TechCrunch that “One Nordic, MassivKonzept and Fab Europe will all fold into Hem”.

Hem launches mid October 2014

Hem will officially launch in mid October 2014 but prior to this, the brand will present at two trade shows: The Maison & Objet Fachmesse in Paris (5-9th September) and at London Design Week (13th-21st September).

Hem will work directly with designers and strive to bring users the best quality furniture products at the most affordable prices.

The hem.com portal is now live and is inviting users to sign up as VIPs to gain access to their VIP prelaunch event at the end of September.

The new website also indicates that users will be able to custom design furniture. You can also follow their new Instagram account hemishere for visual updates on the brand.

The new site is being launched in the middle of the major changes taking place in Fab.com. The company recently went through four rounds of downsizing and laid off 600-700 employees in the New York office.

CEO Jason Goldman called the rumours of Fab shutting down “bullshit hate” and the opening of Hem seems to be part of the long term plan he alluded to.
