Vamos, a two year old event discovery platform based in Berlin, recently received an undisclosed six figure amount from an angel investor. The app is currently active in 50 capitals and thousands of cities worldwide.
In 2012 the company raised €100,000 through a friends and family investment round and 100,000 downloads later, the app has become one of the most used event portals.
CEO Luis-Daniel Alegria and his team announced today that they have redesigned the service which lists half a million events a month. The company goal is to become the dominant site for event in the same way that Soundcloud and YouTube are in their respective fields.
Vamos already works with major ticket sales sites such as Ticketmaster, Eventbrite and Facebook and has recently expanded this list to include Eventim and Stubhub.
“It’s a hot space with a clear opportunity to disrupt event promotions as we know it by enabling organizers to target relevant users and in this way monetize through sign-ups or tickets sold” says Google’s Karl Sandstedt who sits on Vamos‘ advisory board.
The Vamos team also announced that they are creating a worldwide event recommendation portal available via iOS, newsletter and web (Android will be launched soon). This will allow users to tailor their search to their specific location and tastes.
