This is an exciting time for PHP and an exciting time to be launching a new publication. After eight release candidates in as many months, March 1 finally saw the release of PHP 5.4, followed closely by the closing stages of the grand Git migration. The database wars continue apace, with NoSQL solutions growing more popular by the day, and the arguments around frameworks and optimisation show no signs of dying down. Meanwhile, ordinary PHP devs and ops staff are gearing up for the hard work of practical implementation, along with the continued vigilance needed to keep their systems resilient and secure.
