WebAssembly is becoming a standard for developing web applications. These can be written in native languages such as Java, C# or Rust and executed by the browser. How far has the technology come? What are reasonable use cases? What best practices are emerging? At the WebAssembly Day, experts share their valuable experiences with you. An event for everyone who wants to stay up to date!
Das erwartet dich:
Buzzword bingo, FTW! No, this session is not about Blazor WebAssembly. Rather, Christian will discuss WebAssembly as a base technology and ubiquitous platform that enables many ever-dreamed-of scenarios in computing. These include – in conjunction with WASI – secure isolated execution environments, powerful instantiation & execution engines, and lightweight server-side & serverless runtime environments. And all this with almost every programming language and framework, including C# and .NET. Come by and get an idea of why, what and how WebAssembly, WASI & Co. will make a difference in a world beyond the browser. As a .NET developer, you should definitely know about one of the hottest technologies in town. (Oh, and yes: we will also briefly talk about Blazor WebAssembly…)
WebAssembly (Wasm) changes everything; Wasm in the browser was just the tip of the iceberg. The impact of Wasm on the server side (and in the cloud) will be way more significant and will change how we craft cloud-native architectures. Thorsten Hans will explain and demonstrate how to design and implement distributed architectures using containers and Wasm. Join this session to see what is possible today, to make yourself comfortable with Wasm in the backend, and get an impression of what „Cloud-Native vNext“ will look like.
WebAssembly (Wasm) has gained significant popularity in recent years due to its ability to run high-performance code on the web. Wasm is a low-level binary format that is designed to be portable, secure, and efficient. However, the inner workings of Wasm can be quite complex, and understanding its fundamentals is crucial to leveraging its full potential. In this session, we will take a deep dive into the inner workings of Wasm. We will cover topics such as the Wasm module format, memory management, and the execution of Wasm code. We will also explore how Wasm integrates with the web platform and programming languages like Rust. To make this session more interactive and engaging, we will provide code samples in both Wasm Text (WAT) and Rust, which will help illustrate the concepts discussed. We will also provide a hands-on demonstration of how to compile Rust code into Wasm and run it in a web browser. Whether you are a web developer, a systems programmer, or simply interested in learning about Wasm, this session will provide you with the fundamental knowledge needed to start working with Wasm effectively.

Christian Weyer is co-founder and CTO of Thinktecture AG. As a Microsoft MVP, Google GDE, and independent Microsoft Regional Director for Germany, he is an engaged and passionate speaker at various software conferences and events all over the world. For over two decades, his heart has always been with cross-platform solutions and distributed end-to-end architectures – and his head in the Cloud since 2007.
Thorsten Hans
Thinktecture AG
Thorsten works as a consultant at Thinktecture AG in Germany. He deals with the design and implementation of cloud-native applications based on Kubernetes. He supports and coaches application developers in building modern business applications for different platforms. He shares many of his experiments and experiences on his blog https://thorsten-hans.com. Due to his contributions to the European community, he has been awarded Azure MVP by Microsoft several times.
Rainer Stropek

Rainer Stropek has been an entrepreneur in the IT industry for over twenty years. During this time he founded and managed several IT service companies and is currently developing the award-winning software time cockpit with his team in his company software architects. Rainer holds degrees from the Höhere Technische Lehranstalt für MIS, Leonding (AT) and the University of Derby (UK). He is the author of several technical books and journal articles in the area of Microsoft .NET and C#. His technical focus is on C# and the .NET Framework, XAML, the Microsoft Azure platform, SQL Server, and web development. He is a regular speaker and trainer at prestigious conferences in Europe and the USA. In 2010, he was named one of the first MVPs for the Windows Azure platform by Microsoft. He has also been a Microsoft Regional Director since 2015.
